Real-time travel information

Objectives

• To model a system based on the Via Verde (VV), "portagens" and the information panels networks,
• Identify and validate each vehicle with VV
• Process the traffic data in real time
• Publish the results on the information panels

Geographic information

The pilot project is based on the existent highways namely the triangle A5 Lisboa-Cascais and the A9 Estádio-Queluz

Check points

The network of the check points is made of the VV barriers (in green), witch already exist, plus the traffic control barriers (in blue)

Essential tracks

Taken the maps we can construct a list of tracks to follow namely:

adding the tack of the Estádio Nacional

Functional model

Vehicle identification

• with out memory in previous detections
• without knowledge on the detection on other check points
• does not know its location
• operates independently
• has the same behavior in any place of the grid

Compiling the data

• synchronous or asynchronous communication
• get grid of check points and the state of each one
• check for valid tracks
• duration of each valid track
• obtain the cruise time for each track
• two data set: open traffic, car id VV and, closed traffic, validated vehicles with the information about check points and cruising times
• For the second set of data, one should obtain the tracks given above, and cruising time for each of them.

Forecast would be a nice feature.
